Frances "Fran" Owen, age 74, passed away suddenly on May 1, 2021. She was a member of West Hills Baptist Church and had most recently been attending North Knoxville Baptist Church. Fran was a 1964 graduate of Dunmore High School in Pennsylvania and graduated from Carraway Methodist Nursing School in Birmingham, AL with her degree in nursing in 1967. She was a past member of the Gibbs Ruritan Club and many other groups and organizations. In her 54 year career, she had many accomplishments and was presented with numerous awards. In Alabama, she was a Public Health Nurse traveling many counties and managed the Health Department in Ozark, and worked at the State Health Department in Montgomery. In Tennessee, she managed clinics at Knox County Health Department and was an Executive Director at a few assisted living facilities in Knox and Sevier counties. She was a Geriatric Care Manager for Humana, visiting patients in numerous counties, and then became a caregiver to many wonderful families. Her passions were social work and Geriatrics, and being an advocate for the elderly. She co-owned a restaurant and antique center in Pittsford, VT for 13 years and Owen's Turkey Restaurant in Farragut, both with her former husband, Jim Owen. Fran was an extremely devoted mother, nurse, business woman and friend to all. She was a loving and compassionate woman who always put the needs of others above her own. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore "Ted" Francis Luther and Lucy "Liz" Elizabeth Hall Luther, sister Sarah "Bettye" Russo, and 1 nephew. Survived by her loving daughter, Laura Sconyers, and son in law, James "Jay" Evans, who was incredibly important to her, friend and former husband Jim Owen, sister Lynne, nephews, Ted (with whom she had a close bond) and Lee Kabase, plus 1 more nephew and MANY special friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 11 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel from 5:00-7:00 pm with a service to follow at 7:00 pm, Rev. Drew Prince officiating. Please follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask in Family and friends will meet Wednesday, May 12, at 10:45 am at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11 am interment.
