Forrest Jayce Sayers, age 41, of Corryton, Tennessee, was born on December 6, 1983, to Jim Sayers and Teri (Rempel) Doran, in Ontario, Oregon. The weather was quite severe, and his father barely made it in time to see his son born, due to the deep snow. Forrest’s early years, up to 12 years of age, were mostly spent in Baker City and Sumpter, Oregon, where he attended school at North Baker & Churchill Elementary schools. Forrest did well in school, however, his teachers almost always had comments on his report card noting that he could do much better if he would keep his talking & visiting under better control. Forrest loved sports and played soccer, baseball, basketball and football. He also loved spending time in the woods with friends and family. Forrest spending time at his Sayers grandparent’s ranch in Ontario, OR and his Rempel grandparent’s dairy in Vale, OR. At the age of 12, Forrest moved with his family to Woodinville, Washington, where he would complete his secondary education at Leota Jr High and Woodinville High School. Forrest excelled in Football, playing multiple positions, including Tight End, Nose Tackle, Center & Defensive End. While in Woodinville, he continued to have notes about talking too much on his report cards. He just had so much to share with everyone.
Upon graduating Forrest applied to the Fire Service program at Bellevue Community College in Bellevue, Washington. As part of the application for the program, there was an oral board exam, which Forrest passed with flying colors and then proceeded to say that all talking had paid off. The Fire Service did not end up being Forrest’s career, however, he learned great life lessons from his training. Forrest went on to work at Home Depot, and other positions before landing in the insurance field, where he was still employed at the time of his passing.
In 2009, Forrest met Mary Huss, and it became clear that she was and is the Love of his Life. They were married in 2011 at his Grandparents cabin in the mountains outside of Sumpter, Oregon. A beautiful setting amongst the pine trees. Forrest and Mary made their home in Federal Way, Washington. In 2014 they were blessed with a daughter, Julia Sofia and four years later a second daughter, Elsie Grace, joined the family. The Sayers family lived in Federal Way until 2022, when they felt led to move to East Tennessee. It was a big move, but God was with them and led them to Corryton, TN, and also to Fairview Knox Church and the many friends and brothers and sisters in Christ associated with this move, clearly led by God’s hand.
Not long after moving to Tennessee, Forrest was diagnosed with Cancer and given 6-months to live, however, God had a different plan. Forrest asked God what he could do, and God spoke to him with this; Show Up and Speak Up. With that Forrest began to get more involved in the church, by attending prayer services, and men’s groups. He was showing up and speaking up, always willing to share what he was studying in the Bible and to ask questions of others, challenging each other to dig deeper into their faith and the truths in the Bible. Forrest truly loved talking and sharing with others, even up to just a few days before his passing, there was a Bible study held in their living room with 19 men attending. He rarely passed up an opportunity to share with others and always had stories to tell. He had the wisdom of a much older man.
Forrest’s last few days were spent in his home surrounded with family and friends. Even as his health was failing, it always perked him up to see a friend and get the chance to share with them and pray with them. Forrest went home to be with Jesus on Sunday March 16, 2025, with his wife Mary, his mother, his father, and dear friends by his side.
Forrest is survived by his wife, Mary Sayers, daughter's Julia Sayers and Elsie Sayers, his mother, Teri Doran, his father, Jim (Debbie) Sayers, father & mother-in-law, Dennis and Ann Huss, maternal grandparents, Marvin & Frances Rempel, sister, Jessilyn Sayers, brothers: Jacob Sayers, Spencer (Jesse) Parham, Bryce Parham & Cody Strimple; brother-In-law, Adam (Sara) Huss, uncles: Merle, Greg & Jim Rempel; aunts: Marylynn (Roger) Twombly, and Dava (John) Davis; numerous cousins, dear friends: Jason, Duke, Bradlee; and so many others.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Martin & Donna Sayers, aunt, Marty (Sayers) Hudgens, uncle, Henry Hudgens & aunt, JoNell (Sayers) Shepherd.
Forrest leaves a legacy of Love, Sharing and Caring. His ability to speak with others and allow them to share with him was a true gift. This mallowed him to help others to open up their lives to a deeper understanding of a relationship with Jesus and with Gods word.
