Floyd Petitt

Floyd L. Petitt, age 98, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Easter Day, April 9, 2023. He was born on October 18, 1924 in Chautauqua, NY to Clarence Petitt and Florence Wassink Petitt.

 Floyd was a World War II veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service. After the war, he graduated from Cortland State and Physical Therapy school in Galveston, TX where he made many life time friends. He was an avid golfer and a lover of warm weather.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Mae and Helen; brother, Lewis; and son-in-law, Bygone Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Trudy; sons, Floyd (Carla), Dr. Bruce (Pat), and Paul; daughter, Teresa Smith; grandchildren, Taylor, Joseph, Claire, AnnaLee, Zachary (Kaylee), Thomas, and Luke.

Special thanks to the staff at Care Around the Block and Amedisys Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 11:00AM- 1:00PM with a memorial service to follow at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, Dr. Thomas Sweet officiating.
