Flora Bell Lewis, June 27, 1925-September 6, 2017, was born Flora Waggoner in Hickory Valley of Union County, Tennessee. After WWII she married James Rector Lewis, of Knox County, Tennessee, who returned home from the fight in Europe. They moved to Kokomo, Indiana, to get good jobs. In 1953 she had a son, James Steven Lewis. Flora retired from working at Delco Electronics a few years after her husband retired from a steel mill, and then they returned to their true home of Tennessee in 1986. Flora loved to crochet, work in a garden and flower bed, and take sight-seeing drives. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Chilhowee Ward in Fountain City. She has served as a Primary President, Nursery Leader, Family History Consultant, among many other callings. She also served at the Atlanta LDS Temple for 10 years. Flora is preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, James Latham and Necy Jane Waggoner; her sisters, Elsie Dees, Mary Maples, and Ruby Charles; her brothers, Hugh Waggoner, Thomas Lenoir Waggoner, and Leland Waggoner, and several nephews and nieces. She is survived by her son, Steve and his wife Silvia; Silvia’s 5 children and 9 grandchildren. She is also survived by many devoted nephews and nieces, and many very special friends. The family thanks the staff at North Knoxville Medical Center for her final care. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. The service will follow with Bishop Nathan Finstad officiating. Family and friends will meet 2:45pm Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for a 3:00pm interment.
