His passing broke her heart and she was never able to move through it.
Faye is survived by her two sons, Chuck Bomar, wife Amy, Easley, SC and Spencer Bomar, wife Dianne, Loveland, OH. She was so proud of her five grandsons, Andrew, Jackson, Bailey, Bradley and Casey Bomar. Faye is also survived her brother, Gene and his wife Eula; Sister-in-laws Christine, Rita and Dee, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special niece, Kay Mayes, who was like a daughter to her and never wavered once in providing Faye so much love and continuous support over the past year. Faye’s nephew Jack Ellis and his wife Kathy also played a significant role in Faye’s life a good portion of the past year.
Faye was a lively, outgoing, life of the party person with a great laugh. If you were out in public with her in Knoxville, she almost always ran across someone she knew, and they would launch into great conversations and laughs. Faye was a proud graduate of Rule High School. Her outgoing personality served her well while working at the old Waters Grill on Beaumont Avenue. She was later a crossing guard at Brownlow Elementary School. She then settled into a long career working for the Knoxville Police Department as a Parking Control Officer, retiring after many years of service.
Faye was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church. She was a devoted grandma doting on her five grandsons in countless ways. She was so proud of her family and could drive others bonkers with stories about her sons and grandsons. Before she became a grandma, Faye eagerly volunteered to be a special part of so many of her young nieces and nephew’s lives. Rusty, Bradley and Angie were just a few that she cared for and showered her love upon before her own grandchildren were born. She also shared a special a bond with her late niece, Debbie Sweet.
Faye had the gift of two green thumbs. The flowers in her yard and on her porch were always amazing. Her ability to grow beautiful things was unmatched. She would share all kinds of wonderful stories while sitting on her front porch with her family. She loved to talk about working security back stage at Elvis Presley concerts in Knoxville. Her story of Elvis kissing her hand was priceless. Especially later in her life, she loved listening and singing along to Elvis Presley songs. She would also recount accompanying actress Patricia Neal in her limousine around town at fund raising events for the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center while serving as Ms. Neal’s security.
Faye is now at peace with her husband. She will be forever missed by all who loved her and those ever so fortunate to know her.
