Evelyn T. Shipe, age 90, passed away on July 3, 2018. She was a faithful member of Buffet Heights Baptist Church. Evelyn was very active in her Sunday School Class and enjoyed meals with the "Lunch Bunch". She loved to spend her time traveling and gardening. After retiring from KUB, Evelyn worked as an usher at the Tennessee Theater, Bijou, The Coliseum, and at the early voting booths around town. Evelyn even found time to volunteer at Physicians Regional Medical Center and Random Acts of Flowers. She is preceded in death by husband Charles Shipe; parents William Harrison and Lucy Sterling Thomas; twin brother Everett William Thomas; sister Margaret T. Mynatt; and brother Harold Thomas. She is survived and will be deeply missed by nephews Eric S. Thomas (Debbie) and Karl Steven Thomas (Eve); great nephews, Evan D. Thomas (Sarah), Kody Thomas, and Zack Thomas; great-great niece, Gracie Conner; and sister-in-law, Berrietta Thomas. The family would like to thank the staff of Windsor Gardens Assisted Living for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel from 3 to 5pm. Family and friends will meet 9:45am Monday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for 10am graveside service, Pastor Dave Thomas officiating.
