Evelyn Bright Gose, age 100 of Knoxville passed away quietly in her sleep, Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Norris Health & Rehabilitation Center. Kind, helpful, generous, and smart, she was a graduate of Powell High School, a member of Arlington Baptist Church, and formerly a member of Sharon Baptist Church. A lady of many talents and interests, she played piano, finished cosmetology school, enrolled in business classes, managed her husband's Dixie Contracting Company, then later held a position in the Knox County Chancery Court for many years until her retirement. Preceded in death by husband George C. Gose; parents William Lafayette (W.L.) ("Fate") Bright and Mae Gault Bright; brothers Donald L. Bright and W. Grant Bright; sister Hazel L. McPhetridge; brothers-in law Ray M. Rutherford, Hollis C. McPhetridge, Cecil L. Gose, and Lonzo Curtis (Curt) Gose; sisters-in-law Peggy Bright, Agnes Gose, and Trula Gose. Survived by sister Barbara Rutherford and sister-in-law Mary Evelyn Bright; several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, to be followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am for an 11:00 am interment on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Sharon Baptist Church cemetery, Dr. James Robertson officiating at both services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharon Baptist Church, 7916 Pedigo Rd, Knoxville, TN 37938 or to Arlington Baptist Church, 4383 LifeSpring Ln, Knoxville, TN 37918.
