Essie Helton Blair-McDaniel passed away December 12, 2015. Essie was born in Claiborne County, TN ninety-three years ago, the first of seven children. She was the last surviving family member, preceded in death by her parents James Arnold and Nerva Jane Seals Helton, and brothers James, Lawrence, Estle, Glenn, and Bill, and sister Okie Jane Carver. She praised God for his loving care and protection. She was a member of Graveston Baptist Church. She was a 50 year member of Acacia May Chapter of O.E.S., serving in the star point of Ruth, and a retired administrative assistant of the Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville. James Audrey Blair, husband of 51 years and father of their three sons, passed away in 1994. Her second husband, Charles L. McDaniel and her special friend, Pauline Smith also preceded her in death. Survivors include three loving sons and their spouses, Jimmy and Wife Shirley, Dr. David Arnold and wife Davidta, Michael Stephen and wife Sandra, four grandson James and wife Dr. Melissa, Jason, Bryan, and Kevin and wife Savannah Blair, two granddaughters Susan Craigo and husband Dewayne, and Andrea Ramirez and husband James, two step grandsons Adam and Ryan Catledge, eight great grandsons Tyler, Austin, Jonathan, Logan, Preston, Jeremy, Lincoln, and Lennox, special sister-in-law Charlotte Helton, several nieces and nephews, and good neighbors and friends Ed and Wilma Berry.
Friends and family will meet at 10:45 am Wednesday, December 16, at Clapp’s Chapel Cemetery in Corryton for graveside services at 11am with Rev. Sean Watson officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow.
