Ernest R. Clifford

Mr. Ernest R. Clifford, age 95, of Knoxville passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 surrounded by family. He was born July 21, 1925 in Louisville, KY, a son of the late William and Ora Clifford. Ernest R. Clifford was preceded in death by wife of 71 years Dolores M. Clifford, his sisters, Esther Gracey, Lola Hulsey, and Ella Caffee. He was a member of Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle. He retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and last year as landlord and owner of apartments. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, served in South Pacific. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling the world, and going to many square-dancing events. Ernest R. Clifford is survived by his daughter and son and spouse, Linda Lee Sanders, Ernest Wayne and Janice Clifford. Grandchildren and spouses: Shannon N. Clifford, who lovingly helped care for him in his last days. Clay and Tambra Sanders and great-great-grandchildren Cala and son Adrian, Ethan and Evan Blount. Dustin and Tammy Sanders, great grandchildren, Summer Rose and Robert Chance Sanders. Robert and Amy Sanders, great grandchildren Katie, Carson, and Conner Sanders. The family will receive friend from 4:00 – 5:00 PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City. Family and friends will meet at 1:30 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 to proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for a 2:00 PM graveside service.
