Ernest Eugene Goins

Ernest (Gene) Goins: aka Squirrel July1, 1945 – June 30, 2022 Native Knoxvillian, Rule High School Class of ’63, and member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Gene passed away at UT Hospital on 6/30/2022 due to multiple health complications. He was proceeded in death by his parent George Nathan & Louise Goins, Sister Dorthia Case, Brothers Walt & Doug Goins, son Kenneth Ray Goins. Leaving behind to share his stories are his wife Judy, daughter Cynthia Worley, sons Cody Goins & Thomas (Jeana) Vineyard. Grandchildren Adam (Erin) Goins, Neely McClancy, Andy Boruff, Amanda V Rivera, Matt Vineyard, Samantha McClancy, Kendra Miller, Nathan & Nicholas Goins. Brother Larry (Kim) Goins, Sister Evelyn Pointen. Gene loved activities include: 50+ yrs playing softball, avid golfer, known fisherman, cert. scuba diver, & volunteering for church bus ministry for 12+ yrs. His competitive spirit made Gene great at everything he did. Gene was blessed with a family that loved him as well as a great group of friends / golfing buddies to keep him active & laughing. A huge thanks to the staff at UT Hospital & Pastor Scott Whaley, all of the family & friends who reached out to support the family through kind words, a flood of food & constant prayers. Family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, July 11th 5:00-7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with a short service following officiated by Pastor Scott Whaley.
