Ernest Esco Ezell, age 80, passed away peacefully in his Powder Springs, TN home on Thursday evening. Ernest was a Central High School 1957 graduate. He attended UTK for seven years as a pre-med and then law student. He was a three-year veteran of the US Army stationed in Germany. He retired from the Sheet Metal Union, Local 5. Over the years, he was a member of several local churches, his first being North Knoxville Baptist. Ernest was proud to tell anyone that he was a recovering alcoholic. He worked actively in AA for 39 years.
Preceded in death by his parents Luther and Omega (Weaver) Ezell and all of his siblings, Otie, Delanor & Wilma.
Survived by his wife, Virginia (Haynes) Walker Ezell; Step Children, Earl (Jacqualyn) Walker and Jeri (Craig) MacArthur; Grandchildren, Wesley (Christina) Walker, Justin (Katie) Walker, Jake (Nicole) Smith & Kathryn Smith; Great-Grandchildren, Brandon Walker & Jillian Walker; Nephews, Eddie (Tracey) Speeks, Mike (Max) Loop; Niece, Pam Speeks, Dana (Wayne) Howard, Vicki Wilkerson & Robin Romines; Special Cousin & Best Friend, Clyde E. Cox.

Family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 26 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm with a funeral service immediately following at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with Brother Donnie Woods officiating. The graveside service will be on Monday, Aug. 27 at 11 am at Greenwood Cemetery (meet at entrance at 10:45) Missionary John Wampler officiating and the East TN Honor Guard will recognize his service.
