Emma Lee Clark

January 25, 1921 — August 10, 2013

Emma Lee Fortner Clark, born January 25, 1921 in Knox County passed away August 10, 2013. She was the widow of William (Bill) Clark. He was a lifelong resident on Davis Road in the New Hopewell Community. Emma Lee said goodbye to this Earthly Life to answer God’s call to Eternal Life. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Willing Workers Class, Young at Heart, Hearts for Missions and was a volunteer with Hospice at Baptist Hospital several years until her health began to fail. Emma Lee was a stay at home mother to give love and care to her family. After the children left home, she loved to travel, go camping and spend some winter time in Florida until Bill was called home in March of 1993 during the snow blizzard. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Clark, sons Jared Lee Nichols and wife Janice and Jack Edward Nichols, grandson Joseph Clint Nichols, parents Ottie and Lillie Fortner, sisters Leola Brock, Grace Davis, Bobbie Jean Dougherty, brother Rev. Lewis Fortner, special niece Betty Brock Shelley and son-in-law Capt. Ed Cummins. Survivors include daughter Diane Cummings, son and wife Gary Clint Nichols and Judy, sister-in-law Vannee Thomas, grandchildren Tylenia Miller, Shannon Nichols, Neely Stuart, Jennifer, Jared, Justin, Isaiah, & Isabella Nichols, great-grandchildren Clint Miller, Tristin, Michael, Benjamin and Abriele Nichols, step-grandchildren Billy and Kandice Mullins, several nieces and nephews, aunt and cousins and Clark family. Funeral services will be at 8 PM Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. John Holland and nephew Rev. Steve Fortner officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Wednesday and proceed to Lynnhurst Cemetery for 11 AM interment. Pallbearers: Jared, Justin & Shannon Nichols, Clint Miller, Keating Shelley Jr. and Billy Mullins. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of Salem Baptist Church, 8201 Hill Rd. Knoxville, TN 37938. Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel.
