Emma Jane Chitwood Hensley

Emma Jane Chitwood Hensley, age 82, Knoxville, TN passed away the evening of Monday, January 16, 2017 after a five-year battle with breast cancer. Jane was born in LaFollette, TN on October 30, 1934 and graduated from Halls High School in 1952. Jane remained close to her classmates throughout her life. Special thanks to Jim & Judy Marine and Inez Conklin for their faithful correspondence and calls. Jane was a bookkeeper for businesses and hospitals in town; however, the job she excelled at the most was that of devoted and unconditionally loving mother. She was an avid reader, loved the beach, the mountains, wildflowers, and her dogs. She enjoyed square dancing and was even a DJ for a stint. Jane was feisty, fiery, and fierce and she showed all those attributes in the way she loved her children, family, and friends. As Jane waged her battle with breast cancer, she lived the last year of her life with minimal discomfort, eating all her favorite foods (ice cream and chocolate), and voraciously consuming any book she could get her hands on. Visits with family and friends were the highlights of her days. Jane is preceded in death by her parents, D.L. & Nila Chitwood, son, Ted A. Hensley, sister, Gail C. Blair, and nephew, Mark A. Chitwood. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Anne Hensley (Vickie Kroeger), brothers, Bruce (Polly) Chitwood, and L.D. (Mickie) Chitwood; sister, Kathyrne N. Brock; nieces and nephews: Nancy, John (Deanne), Andy (Tammie) Brock; David (Judy) Chitwood, Tina Ridenour; Adam (Carissa), Robert Chitwood; and Joe Blair; and all the cousins in LaFollette and Virginia that she dearly loved. Special thanks to UT Hospice for their care and especially to Linda Johnson, a wonderful caregiver and friend, without whom this journey would have been so much harder. The family will receive friends, Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 5 – 7 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Friday, January 20, 2017, at Ft.
