Elmer “Lefty” Ammons, age 76, went home Thursday, June 11, 2015. He was a deacon at Emory Valley Baptist Church, a Gideon, and a United States Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by parents, Mamie and C.E. Ammons; uncle and aunt who raised him, Sherdon and Nada Irick; brothers, Edward and James Ammons. Survivors include wife of 55 years, Brenda Ammons; children, Jeff Ammons, Trina Ammons, and Robin Hipsky; grandchildren, Josh Moore and wife Kristen, and Zach Hipsky; siblings, Sammie Ammons and wife Wanda, Ralph Ammons and wife Shirley, Barbara Turner and husband Howard; 7 nephews; and 3 nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emory Valley Baptist Church Youth Ministry. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Saturday with funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. with Rev. Richard Nicely officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Sunday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for 2:00 pm interment service with Rev. Dean Brantley officiating
