Elmer Eugene “Gene” Major passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born October 21, 1925 in Knoxville. He was a member of Halls Primitive Baptist Church and Masonic Bright Hope Lodge #557 F.&A.M.. Gene was a graduate of Halls High School and a Halls Crossroads resident for many years. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of WWII. He participated in the Honor Air Flight to Washington D.C. 2009. He retired from KUB where he worked as a line supervisor. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating on Norris Lake. He was an avid traveler and loved NASCAR, country music; singing and playing his guitar. Gene is preceded in death by his beloved wife of many years, Rosemary Sanderson Major; parents, Elmer F. and Elsie Major; and sisters, Ella Major Carter and Nancy Filmore. He is survived by loving wife, Clara Jean Major; her children, Jim, Jeff (Tammy) Henderlight and Donna Arp; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and many cherished friends. Family and friends will meet at 9:45am Friday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for graveside service, Rev. Tim Jenkins officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday 6-8pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
