Elizabeth Loy Vandergriff, age 97, of Knoxville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ January 2, 2016. She was a member of City View Baptist Church. She loved her church and its members so very much. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William “Bill” Vandergriff, parents Lee and Pearl Loy, brothers Romie E. Loy and John C. “JC” Loy, and sisters Lucille Vineyard and Dolly Burton. Survivors include daughter Judy Noblitt and husband Wade, grandson Phillip W. Hatcher, granddaughter Sammi Chafin and husband Garland, great granddaughter Brittni Chafin, sister Bessie Spoon, nieces Tilda Bowling and husband Ronald, Nancy Jo Chitwood and husband Rick, and Joy Nichols and husband Gary, and nephews Charles “Sonny” Burton and wife Barbara, John Loy and wife Anita, Robert Vandergriff and wife Linda, and Ron L. Loy. The family would like to express special thanks to Golden Living Center Winwood in Clinton, TN for their care. Especially Vicki, Mary Beth, Kara, Nurses Judy, Barbara, and Carol. To the girls on North 200 Floor for giving such care and concern, a much appreciated thank you. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to City View Baptist Church, 2311 Fine Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37917. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with funeral service to follow at 8 PM with Rev. Gene Hurley and Rev. Lucky Steele officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 PM Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery for interment at 2 PM.
