Mrs. Elizabeth Baker Horton, age 87, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, February 24th, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 16th, 1930 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late John R. Baker and Vera White Lyerly. Mrs. Horton graduated from Lancaster High School in 1949, continued her education at Spartanburg Methodist College, and retired after 30 years of service from Springs Mills Customer Service office where she was a bookkeeper. Mrs. Horton was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she was an organist/pianist, member of the choir and member of the ladies Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by husband Douglas Kemper Horton, grandmother Lucy Morris Baker, and 8 very special aunts and uncles. She is survived by son William Gene Wilson, and wife Ginny A. Logan, of Knoxville, Tennessee, grandchildren Christian Taylor Knight and Elliot Asher Wilson, both of Knoxville, Tennessee, great-grandchild David Kingston Knight, of Knoxville, Tennessee; special aunt and uncle Esther B. Kay of Tucson, Arizona, and James Baker of Memphis, Tennessee, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 2nd, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 2:45 p.m. for a 3:00 p.m. graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the receiving of friends. Dr. Alan Smith will be officiating.
