Elbert “Boots” Hooper, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 31, 2015. He was born in Claiborne, Tennessee on July 28, 1933 to Barton and Crettie Hooper. He was a member of Highland View Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was well known in the Halls community as a farmer and electrician. Boots is preceded in death by his wife, Della M. Hooper; his parents, Barton and Crettie Hooper; brothers, Walter and Fate; sisters, Geneva, Velma, Viney, and Healine. Boots is survived by son Joshua (Jay) C. Hooper and wife Jeanne (Jan) Smith Hooper of Washburn, Tennessee, grandson, Joshua D. Hooper; son Billy Hooper and wife Becky of Marietta, Georgia, granddaughter Amy Kaplan and husband Bill and grandson Adam Hooper and wife Amy; and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Vern Hooper and wife Lois and sister Irene Tolliver. The family would like to thank the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice and Special Care for their loving care. Special thanks to the caregivers Hayle, Teresa, Rhonda, Haylea, Beverle, and BB. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 8:00 pm. Family and friends will meet 9:45 am Thursday at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery for 10:00 am interment.
