Edwin Earl Spradlen

February 2, 1932 — September 22, 2017

Edwin Earl Spradlen Sr., 85 of Powell passed away September 22, 2017. He was of the Christian faith. He was a 4th degree black belt in Ishinru karate and a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a veteran of the Korean war and retired from Y-12 after 40 years of service. He was a beloved family man who loved to fish, hunt, golf, and play pool. Preceded in death by wife of 60 years Mary Rachel Spradlen and parents Buford Rufus and Era Odessa Spradlen. Survived by wife Barbara Bayless Spradlen; children Edwin Earl Spradlen Jr. (Little Eddie) and wife Teri, Connie and husband Mike Hurst, Calvin T. Spradlen and wife Gina; step-children Cynthia Bayless Green and husband Steve, Barry Bayless, Erin Bayless Lewis and husband Tyler, Jill Bayless Dew and husband Ron E.; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will meet 11:15a.m. Wednesday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for 11:30a.m. graveside service, Pastor Mike Hurst officiating. Family will receive friends 4:00p.m.-7:00p.m. Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Edwin’s memory to Disabled American Veterans, online at donate.dav.org or mail to 2600 Holbrook Drive Knoxville, TN 37918.
