Edward D. Nelson

Edward D. Nelson, age 89, passed away July 14, 2017. He worked at Avondale Farms Creamery for over 30 years. Ed will be remembered for his hearty laughter and was a charter member of Halls Crossroads Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by wife, Mabel Smyth Nelson and infant son; parents, John and Bertha Nelson; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Dora Edwards and Jessie Smyth; brother-in-law, Joe Kilgore; special friends/cousins, John and Betty Hensley; special friends, Jack Bowers, Mike and Tina Seals; nephews, Donovan Edwards (Holly) and Tony Edwards (Kelli); several other nieces and nephews; and special friends at Elmcroft Assistant Living, Susie, Amanda, Dawn, Rose and Samantha. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Halls Crossroads Presbyterian Church Benevolence Fund. The family will receive friends 11:00am to 11:30am, Monday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and will have funeral service to follow at 11:30am. Following the funeral service the family will proceed to Ft. Sumter Community Cemetery for interment.
