Edith Lee Hargis Shankles

Edith Lee Hargis Shankles, age 93 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Edith loved her Lord and Saviour above all. She loved her flowers and sewing and enjoyed mowing her yard, being in the outdoors, and loving God’s creation. She attended Still Waters Baptist Church where she loved hearing her son preach. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles R. Shankles; son, Bobby R. Shankles; parents, Horace D. Hargis and Amelia Brim Hargis; and brother, Luther C. Hargis. She is survived by her sons, Willis L. Shankles (Charlotte Lynn), Charles T. Shankles (Charlotte Lou), and Danny J. Shankles (Terry D.); grandchildren, Sonny Shankles, Stephanie Beard, Rebekah Garraway, Christy Hawkins, Genevie Pilayo, Denise Shankles, and Nathan Shankles; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Peavery; and nephew, Calvin Hargis. The family will meet at Roseberry Cemetery at 1:45pm Saturday, December 4, 2021 for a 2:00pm graveside service. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Nathan and Sonny Shankles.
