Edith Vance, age 89 of Knoxville, passed away June 24, 2022. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Edith was born during the depression and her father passed away when she was an infant. She and her older sister Beverly were raised by their mother in a household with her extended family including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She had many wonderful memories of these years including spending time at the family cabin at Sunshine. Edith met her husband of more than 50 years at Central High School. They had three daughters and spent their weekends camping and hiking at the nearby lakes and mountains. Edith loved traveling and especially going on cruises. She was always ready to pack a bag and have an adventure. Preceded in death by husband Charles K. Vance, parents Bev and Edith Bibee, and sister Beverly Gilmer. Survived by children Becky Bumpas, Jenny Vance, and Karen Vance, grandchildren Michael Bumpas, Stephen (Sara) Bumpas, Sarah (Jason) Tyler, Andrew Bumpas, Tara (Johnny) Smith, Misty (Dustin) Webb, Steven (Katelyn) Bowman, great-grandchildren Addilyn, Charlie, and Hadley Tyler, Alix Bumpas, Shawna and Reileigh Lister, Breann and Addison Bowman, and Makinnah Lundy, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will meet at 9:45 am Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Woodlawn Cemetery for a 10:00 am graveside service. Family and friends will then gather at Second Presbyterian Church for a receiving of friends from 11:00 am-12:00 pm with a service to follow, Pastor Sarah Morgan officiating.
