Dr. Lynn Ables-Curb, D.C., age 70, of Knoxville, passed away suddenly, June 25, 2023. She was born December 31, 1952 to the late William McKinley Ables, Jr. and Hartwell “Hart” Brown Ables of Pittsburg, Tennessee. Dr. Ables has continued the path of the women before her in the Ables family who have led the way for women in the medical field. She was a high school graduate of 1970, (being third in her class) and receiving “The History” Award. Lynn was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and a Major in English before continuing her education at Logan University, St. Louis. She completed her education in a four-year span that normally would require seven years. Lynn was diligent in her studies, paying back her student loan and waitressing while in school. She was very active in the college newspaper, the New Vital Force. Following graduation, Lynn went to Phenix City, Alabama to work with another D.C. Six months later, she felt that she was being led by God to set up practice in Knoxville. As she scouted for locations, she fell in love with the Halls community and felt sure to succeed in her career. She started with humble beginnings as doctor, secretary, office manager, custodian and anything else that was needed, to a staff with a complete medical office with state of art technology. Lynn traveled the world, extensively Europe and Mexico with Dr. Crystal Gue. She loved scuba diving, snorkeling and cruises. Lynn was a member of Halls Crossroads Women’s league and was actively involved within Halls Community activities. Lynn coined the phrase, “Halls Has It” slogan to promote local businesses in the community. She was a member of the Tennessee Chiropractic Association. Lynn was a lover of all animals with an especially open heart for those in shelters and in need of love. “Lynn Lived Large”. She enjoyed life and new experiences, adventures and different cultures. She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, William McKinley Ables, Sr. and Iva Baldwin Ables, D.C. (second licensed Chiropractor in 1923 in Tennessee); maternal grandparents, Henry Luttrell Brown and Novella Shelly Brown. Dr. Ables is survived by her husband, Martin L. Curb, who affectionately called his beloved Lynn, “Toots”; brothers, William “Buzz” McKinley Ables, III (Jackie), Samuel “Sam” Luttrell Ables, D.C. (Reya Lee, D.C.); several, nieces and nephews; long-time friend, Dr. Crystal Gue; long-time staff, Regina, Danielle and Debbie. The family will have a celebration of Lynn’s glorious life in the near future.
