Douglas Hobert Oaks, 64, of Knoxville, went to be with his heavenly father on April 24, 2017. Doug was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a United States Army Veteran and reservist. He was an usher at Ridgeview Baptist Church where he loved and served the Lord. He was preceded in death by his mother, Icie Lee Oaks; father, Milas Esco Oaks; brother, David Oaks; and brother-in-law Jerry Hankins. Douglas is survived by wife Nadine Duncan Oaks; children, Terry Oaks (Jennifer), Jackie Muncey (Sharon), Kevin Mynatt, Kristie Mynatt, and Cassaundra May-Mynatt; grandchildren, Jessica, Christen, Terry Jr., Justin, Gabby, Keighton, Jaxen, Cohen, and Ainsleigh; several great-grandchildren, brother, Charles (LaVern) Oaks; sisters, Mary Hankins, Shelia Galler (Jeff); sister-in-law, Susie; brother-in-law, Steve Allen and special friend Jeannie Merritt. Doug is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 27, 8 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, 2829 Rennoc Road Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Steve Tharp and Rev. Richard Nicely officiating. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Quality Home Health and Avalon Hospice for their tender loving care of Doug. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at 10:45am on Friday in Ridgeview Heights Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery for a 11am interment; Pallbearers: Steve Allen, Byron Stanley, Lee Scott, Danny Hickey, Rusty Beal, Paul Oaks.
