Dorothy “Jean” Hall, passed away on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017. Jean was a lifelong resident of Knoxville and also enjoyed a home in Daytona Beach, FL. Jean had been an active member of Sharon Baptist Church since childhood and served as the organist there for many years. Jean worked for the US Draft Board and after retirement, she worked for the Knox County Election Commission and the Chamber of Commerce. She was a life-long Republican. Jean was the daughter of Walter and Cleo Gentry. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Claude F. Hall. She leaves two sons, Steve (Donna) Hall; and Gary (Shirlene) Hall; 4 grandchildren, Claudia (Donnie) Brewton, Brad (Rosemary) Hall, Steven (Tracie) Hall, and Madeline Hall; 3 great-grandchildren, Audrey Brewton, Erynn Brewton, and Cooper Hall. The family would like to thank Joyce Browder, Opal Ferguson, Barbara Goodman, and Shay Witt for the friendship and care they provided to Jean in the last few years. The family will receive friends at Sharon Baptist Church Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with funeral service to follow. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. interment service on Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
