Dorothy Ellen Sherrod

Dorothy “Miss Dot” Ellen Kinder Sherrod, age 89, of Knoxville, ascended into heaven on Saturday, March 18th, 2017. She was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. All she ever wanted in life was to have a family and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, “goggy”, and grandma. She loved her Lord and Savior and her church family. She was in the same Sunday school class for over 50 years, was the children’s director for 16 years, served Wednesday night suppers, and was active in the church kitchen, Sunday school, bible school, the nursery and children’s ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years William Sherrod, parents Thomas and Fleeta Kinder, and brother and sister-in-law Sonny and Betty Kinder. She is survived by children; Janice (David) Phillips, Kimberly Sherrod, William “Billy” H. (Jeanine) Sherrod, Pamela (Robbie) Fitzgerald, grandchildren; Jessica Phillips, Evan Sherrod, Nathan and Sydney Fitzgerald, devoted sister and brother-in-law Norma and Gordon Carringer, sister-in-law Dorothy Sherrod Trent, several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association or American Lung Association. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. interment service on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery.
