Dorothy Whitehurst Chumley

Dorothy “Dottie” Whitehurst Chumley, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at her home in Powell, TN. Through the years Dorothy relocated many times but was always able to proudly serve her Christian faith. She was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN; Parkwood Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL; First Baptist Church in Steubenville, OH; Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Meridian, MS. Dottie was also a member of the YWCA and the Zoar Association in Steubenville, OH and First Baptist Director of Bible School for many years.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Eula Mae Whitehurst and by her infant grandson, William Jackson Everhart. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Jackson Chumley, Jr.; children, Terry Allen Chumley (Connie), Jennifer Rae Chumley Weaver (Bob) and Susan Jeanette Chumley Everhart (Darwin); grandchildren, Jordan Wilson Weaver (Maureen), Tyler Sims Weaver and Taylor Dane Everhart and great grandchild Milo Sims Weaver. The family would like to thank all of her caregivers who cared for her daily.

Family and friends will meet on Thursday, March 27, 2024, at 3:00 PM for a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery (3500 Tazwell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918). Hospice chaplain, Phillip Groos, officiating.
