Doris Jean Henderson, age 85, went to her heavenly home on January 19, 2021. She was born September 17, 1935. She loved being around her family and grandchildren. She was diagnosed with dementia and her ability to communicate was becoming more difficult. She looked forward to attending church, however in an effort to protect her from Covid I refrained from taking her to church. Covid took her anyway. I know God is watching over her and she is being embraced by those that went before. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Janie Bayles, her two sisters Alma and Marge, and two brothers Weaver and Ralph. She was also preceded by Earl Henderson and her two sons Gregory Earl Henderson and Elbert Smith (Butch). She is survived by her sons Mark and Jimmy Henderson, daughter Tonya Jones and husband Frank, grandchildren Beau and Kristy, Chelsea, Austin, Misty, Michael, Jeannie and Wayne, several great-grandchildren, brother James Bayles of Florida, a host of precious nieces and nephews, her loving niece and running buddy, Susan Gregory Henderson, and “best friend” Amous. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local food bank. Due to Covid we will not be receiving friends and she will be laid to rest at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery on Friday, January 22, 2021, at 3:00pm. Her nephew, Rev. Wayne Henderson will officiate her service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com
