Doris Imogene (Gene) Lett Marsh

Doris Imogene (Gene) Lett Marsh age 97, of Knoxville, TN. Gene Marsh, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, of Knoxville, TN is now face-to-face with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was promoted to Eternity on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, passing peacefully at the Morning Pointe Senior Living Center in Powell. Born in Detroit, Michigan on June 30, 1927, she was the oldest of six children born to James Lett and Mary Pauline Huff of Knoxville and was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gibson Marsh; brother James Edsel Lett and sister-in-law Wanda Lett; sister Marian D. French; brother William Wayne Lett; and sister Eleanor C. Lett. Survivors include her brother Larry E. Lett; sister in law Shannon Lett; brother in law Hobart A. (Jack) French; daughter Gena Marie (Jeff D.) Sharp of Knoxville, TN; son Gary (Joleen L.) Gibson Marsh of Mountain City, TN; four grandchildren: Jenna N. Sharp (Taylor) Pate and Natali M. Sharp (Brandon) Morris of Knoxville, TN; JoEllen M. (Michael) Lamoureux of Westwood, MA; Nathan A. (Jamie) Marsh of Dayton, VA; four great-grandchildren: Virginia Haven Pate, Kru Hudson Pate, Samuel W. Marsh and Autumn R. Lamoureux; numerous nieces and nephews. Gene grew up in the Halls and Fountain City communities almost her entire life. She was a faithful member and served as the Sunday School records keeper at First Baptist Church of Fountain City. She worked in the business office for Southern Bell telephone company (now AT&T) and was an Executive Assistant for the Director of Knoxville’s City Engineering Development Services Division, and was recognized for her organizational skills. Gene was a quintessential homemaker and mother. She loved to cook (especially desserts) and entertain her family and friends. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed crafts, interior design, decorating, and lived an orderly and organized lifestyle. The family of Imogene (Gene) Lett Marsh wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to friends, special caregivers, Etta, Teresa, Tawana and Ashton, Hospice, and medical personnel from the Morning Pointe Assisted Living facility in Powell.   The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel followed by a 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service, Dr. James Robertson officiating.  Family and friends will meet 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel to leave in procession for a 3:00 p.m. graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery.
