Doris Ercell Bridges went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 97 years old. Doris, born to Ada Helen and Albert Sampson Bridges in Lost Creek, Union County, TN on December 2, 1925, is preceded in death by her parents, Ada and Albert, and sister, Trula Belle (Robert) Johnson as well as cousins, Willa Dean Bridges Summers, Evelyn Bridges Wormsley, and Olivia Morton Allen. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1944 and attended Transylvania University. Doris worked in her family’s store, Bridges’ Grocery Store, until it closed in 1963. Doris was a force to be reckoned with who loved her family fiercely and gave generously to anyone who asked. She loved shopping, finding a good bargain, and most importantly spending time with her “honorary children” who she leaves behind on Earth, Kelly (Don) Dixon, Steve (Kim) Summers, John (Mandy) Summers; “grandchildren,” Erin (Jacob) Keiser, Keaton (Blakely) Summers, Andrew (Hayley) Dixon, Sarah (Michael) Dixon-Morgan, Katelyn Summers, Kendall Summers, Kate Summers; and “great grandson” Riley Paul Keiser. Pallbearers; Steve Summers, John Summers, Don Dixon, Keaton Summers, Andrew Dixon, Jacob Keiser, and Michael Dixon-Morgan. Doris's family will receive friend on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with funeral service at 12:00 PM. A procession to follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 1:00 PM graveside service. All services to be officiated by Rev. Charla Sherbakoff.
