Donnie Ray Cox

Donnie Ray Cox, age 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed from this life February 23, 2022, at UT Medical Center. Don worked at UT Medical Center for 22 years as the UT Medical Surgical Supply Manager and retired in 1999. Don was born June 29, 1938, in Powell Tennessee and he was the son of the late John Alfred Cox and Ola Burkhart Cox. Don was a loving husband , father, and grandad. Don was married to his loving wife, Gladys Marie Cox of 46 years. Don was an avid bottle digger and antique bottle collector for over 40 yrs. Don also loved history. Specifically Knoxville History. He commenced and enjoyed many years of research and publishing of the History of Knoxville. Don is preceded in death by his two sisters, Lillian "Lynn" Cox, Ruth Cox, four brothers David Cox, James Cox, Charles Cox, Russell Cox, and his only daughter, Tammy Lynn Cox. Don is survived by his wife, Gladys Cox, sons Doug Cox, Chad Cox, Brad Cox, grandchildren Donna Cox, Tamera Caylor, Olivia Cox, nieces JoAnn Curtis, Barbara Jones Sallee, nephews Russell Cox, Robert Cox, and best friend Paul Evans. A Memorial service for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. located at The Gospel Church at 1247 Delaware Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee.
