Donna Gay Pitts

Donna Gay (Midget) Pitts, 88, of Knoxville, passed away on April 2, 2025 at Autumn Care Assisted Living. Donna was born February 5, 1937 to the late Lester M. Bruce and Dora Sally (Rhodes) Bruce. Donna attended Rule High School. She loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, traveling, working puzzles, and playing games with The Tuesday Morning Yahtzee Group at Bells Campground Baptist Church.

Donna was married to Ray Pitts for 69 years. She is survived by her brother, Earl Bruce; children: Larry Pitts (Liz), Allen Pitts, Tina Smith (Jeff), and Viki Baumgartner (Dean); grandchildren: Jason Smith, Sara Smith (John), Nekoe Baumgartner, Jennifer Lambdin (Bruce), Chris Pitts, Christina Pitts, and Adrian Pitts; great-grandchildren: Jack Smith, Logan Smith, Jayden Lambdin, Trystan Lambdin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Pitts; parents, Lester M. Bruce and Dora Sally Bruce; siblings: Nellie Sheets, Hazel Bruce, Lester Bruce, Bill Bruce, Edna Smith, Robert Bruce, Paul Bruce, Edward Bruce, Joe Bruce, Leona Bruce, Carrie Babbit, Jack Bruce, Joe Thomas Bruce, and Della Curtain; and two grandchildren, Jordan Pitts and Korbin Baumgartner.

Visitation will be held at Mynatt Funeral Home, Powell Chapel on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a funeral service to follow. Pastor Keith Tillman officiating. Donna will be laid to rest at East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy.
