Donald Wayne Russell

September 14, 1938 — December 2, 2023

Donald "Poppy" Wayne Russell passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born in Jefferson Country September 14, 1938. Donald graduated from Maury High School Class of 1956.

Preceded in death by parents: Ray and Virginia Russell of the Piedmont Community and sister, Kay R. Martin of Dandridge, TN.

Survived by: Daughters Margaret H. Russell and Rebecca A. Russell and the very special granddaughter, Grace Izabell, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1961 to 1967. Retired from Rohm and Haas Company following 40 years of employment.

Don and Barbara were married for 63 years and traveled extensively in the US and abroad. Undoubtedly, the most memorable travels were two trips to Russia with daughter, Margie, who adopted Grace in 2003. He enjoyed all activities with family and friends, attending NASCAR races, watching old Western movies, and working in his yard. Don was a long-time member of Inskip Baptist Church where he worshiped and served as trustee, Sunday School Secretary, and volunteered to assist with the Wednesday Night Fellowship meals.

Graveside service by Rev. Mike Segers and burial at Greenwood Cemetery on Tazewell Pike on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM. Online condolences may be expressed at mynattfh.com
