At 9:00 am Tuesday, January 19th, 2022, our Lord and Savior called our father and papaw Donald R. Padgett to heaven. He was born October 21, 1932, as one of eight children. He served in the US Air Force at the rank of Airman 1st Class as a welder during the Korean War and retired as a welder from Plasti-Line, Inc. He also owned and operated the Lil’ Amber Market and Deli at Norris Freeway and Miller Rd and was a member of New Pleasant Gap Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Bobbie Padgett, father and mother Joe and Alberta Padgett, brothers: Jack Earl, Leonard, David, and Jim Padgett, and sisters: Mary Jo Padgett and JoAnn Ellison. He is survived by his son Calvin Padgett wife Donna, grandsons: Ike Padgett wife Avery and Ben Padgett, great-grandchildren: Kannon, Kenzie, and Kaden Padgett, and sister Rubie Dabney.
The family would like to extend special thanks to: Cindy Bradley and the staff at Sacred Ground Residential Hospice for their meticulous and compassionate care and empathy. The nurses, chaplains, and caseworkers at Tennessee Hospice Care for excellent medical attention and guidance. The family also extends infinite gratitude to all of the friends and neighbors that helped us to make Donald’s final days as comfortable as possible.
Donald will lie in state at Mynatt’s Funeral Home Halls Chapel on Sunday, January 23, 2022, and Monday, January 24, 2022, from 10:00am until 5:00pm. Due to illness, the family will only have a graveside service meeting at the Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 25th for the journey to his final resting place at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, 6705 E. Raccoon Valley Rd. for a 2:00 PM graveside service, Reverend Donnie Walker to preside. Pallbearers will be Ike, Ben, Kannon, Len, Wendell, and Allen Padgett. Honorary pallbearers are Kaden and Randy Padgett, Ricky Ellison, and Buddy Hicks.
