Donald Lynn Hobby Sr. age 84 of East Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Tennova North Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born July 15, 1936 to the late Rufus Earl and Rosalee Hobby and a member of Olivet Baptist Church. He and his wife Patricia were the operators of Hobby’s Paint and Body Shop on McCalla Avenue for many years, a business they founded in 1964. Donald has a love for Maggie Valley N.C. and Ghost Town in the Sky. He loved old National Geographic and he had a great passion and love of cats. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Hobby, his grandaughter Rachael Wortley, his son-in-law, Ernest Walthers, sister, Mae, brothers, David and Earl. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hobby, his children, Kathy Hobby, Donald (Deborah) Hobby Jr., Tim (Cathy) Hobby, Kim Hobby, Rebecca Hobby (Rob) Hawkins, Brenda Hobby Walthers and Sherry Hobby Fox. He also is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Nell Bradford and Barbara Duncan, many nieces and nephews. Friends may come by Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 until 7:00 p.m. to sign the register book. Due to covid concerns, the immediate family will not be at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at East View Memorial Gardens for a 11:00 a.m. graveside service Rev. Rick Passmore officiating.
