Donald Hickman, age 90, of Corryton, passed away on May 21, 2017 at Tennova Residential Hospice. He was a member of Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church and a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Wesson, which fought in the Pacific at the battle of Okinawa. He retired from TVA after 34 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by parents, Ira & Edna Hickman; and brothers, Bill Hickman, Charles Hickman, and Lynn Hickman. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Grubb Hickman; sons, Ray M. Hickman, and his wife Mysta, Charles Hickman, and his wife Kathy Buchanan; daughter, Sheila Strunk, and her husband Warren; grandchildren, Heather Hickman, Halsey Hickman, Hunter Hickman, and Matthew Strunk; great-grandson, Avery Holland; brother, Vaughn Hickman; sister, Juanita Hutchison. The family would like to express a special thank you to the gracious caregivers at Tennova Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Clapps Chapel Cemetery Fund. The family will receive friends 5-7pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet at Clapps Chapel Cemetery at 10:45am for a graveside service at 11am, Rev. Timothy York officiating.
