Donald Freels Scates

Donald Freels Scates, age 60 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, June 12th, after a battle with heart failure. He attended Karns High School. Donny is now in his heavenly home and is no longer in pain. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Freels Scates, grandparents, Luther and Allie Scates and Oliver and Lizzie Yarnell, his aunt Lucy Koon, and his cousin Steven Scates, who was his best friend. He is survived by his mother Jane E. Scates, sister Jacquetta ”JC” Scates, his beloved dog Goob, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was especially close to his cousin, Larry Earl Scates, who was also a best friend. He was loyal to a fault and loved his family and friends, who he would do anything for. He was gone too soon and will be greatly missed by all. Family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00pm, Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral services to follow at 8:00pm. Friends and family will meet at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Friday, June 18, 2021, for an 11:00am graveside service, Pastor Bill Dean officiating.
