DeLynn Marie Engelhardt of Knoxville, TN, passed away in her home at the age of 73 on December 28, 2020; exactly one month before her 74th birthday. DeLynn was born at the US Naval Hospital in Astoria, OR on January 28, 1947. Lake Tomahawk, WI was the place of her childhood, where she graduated from Lakeland High School in 1965. Subsequently, DeLynn attended Patricia Stevens Modeling School in Milwaukee, WI and was among the 1966 graduating class. The same year, DeLynn relocated to Chicago and began her career in the travel industry. In 1972, whilst living in the Chicago area, DeLynn decided to marry and leave it all behind to raise a family in Denver, CO, where she would later enjoy family camping trips and outdoor excursions in the mountains west of the “mile-high” city.
In Colorado, DeLynn gave birth to twin children in 1977; Brooke Engelhardt, who currently resides in Basalt, CO, and Chad Engelhardt, who currently resides in Durango, CO. DeLynn is also survived by Brooke’s sons William, Casey and Orion, Chad’s daughter Hellé-Nice, and siblings Michael Coffen, Edmund Coffen, Robin Coffen, and Cheryl Naghibzadeh. DeLynn is preceded in death by her parents Edmund and Elizabeth Coffen, and sister Laura Coffen.
DeLynn was divorced and never remarried. She later resumed her career in the travel industry as a travel consultant for Martin Marietta and American Express, while which she was able to travel to many beautiful places worldwide, which was her passion, and made life-long friends along the way. In her younger years, DeLynn enjoyed singing in her church choir. Spending time with Brooke’s three boys later became one of DeLynn’s favorite pastimes, affectionately earning her the name Gram. Time spent visiting friends and family in Lake Tomahawk, WI, she cherished.
In 2013, DeLynn moved to Knoxville, TN to enjoy retirement and purchased a home. She enjoyed hosting family members and friends when they would come to visit. Her beloved cat named Angel, otherwise kept her company. DeLynn was a 22-year breast cancer survivor, and wished that any donations in her honor are sent to the American Cancer Society: https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/memorial-giving.html
