Delanor Leona Speeks

Delanor (Ezell) Speeks, age 82, moved on to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 3, 2016. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all. For almost five years she modeled faith, grace and strength through her many challenges of a stroke and breast cancer. She was an active member of Callahan Road Baptist Church, Woodmen of the World (2012 Fraternalist of the Year Award), O’Conner Sr. Center Happy Hikers Club, Halls Sr. Center for Wednesday Bingo and retired from the Knox County Schools Food Service Dept. Preceded in death by husband of 44 years, Verlin Jesse “Red” Speeks; son, Phil Speeks; parents, Luther and Omega (Weaver) Ezell; siblings, Otie and Wilma Ezell. Survived by daughter, Dana (Carroll Wayne) Howard; son, Eddie (Tracey LaBelle) Speeks; daughter-in-law, Pam Speeks; grandchildren, Nicole (Damion) Billingsley, Jesse (Alexia) Speeks, Charles Howard, Josh (Jenifer) Howard, Collin Howard, Dylan and Cassidy Speeks, and Griffen Puett; great-grandchildren, Dion, Damion, Destinee, Tristan, Lorelei, Justina and Garison; brother, Ernest (Virginia) Ezell; sister-in-laws, Geneva Speaks and Katheryn Speeks; brother-in-law, Ronnie (Linda) Speeks; special nieces and nephew, Vicki, Kimica, Robin and Mike and blessed with many more nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to friends Ada Kiser, Louella Welch, Rochelle Cordova, members of Fidelity SS Class, Kindred-Northhaven Staff, Rehab Dept. and Volunteers, and Amedisys Hospice Staff. The family will receive friends 4 – 6 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow at 6 pm. Pastor Marc Sasser will be officiating and music by Shelby Haun. Family and friends will meet 1:15 pm Monday at Greenwood Cemetery for 1:30 pm interment. Grandsons are honored to be her Pallbearers.
