Elder David Warren Jackson, was born October 19, 1953 the fourth of five sons of the late Trula Martin Jackson Davis and Millard Jackson in Knoxville, TN.
He attended the Knox County School system and the vocational technical college in California. He was a business entrepreneur operating several businesses from a car dealership to home and building remodeling.
Elder Jackson was raised by his loving mother who was active as a member of Grace Tabernacle and later Trinity Tabernacle Church of God in Christ where she served as one of the church mothers with a passion for cooking for the saints. He loved fishing, music, shooting pool, bowling, and riding ATVs.
Elder Jackson was saved in Long Beach, CA after attending revival services with his mother at Greater Harvest C.O.G.I.C. He was called to the ministry at Greater Harvest under the leadership of Elder Emmitt Campbell. He returned to Knoxville and reunited with Grace Tabernacle Church where he worked faithfully with Bishop H. Jenkins Bell traveling and assisting him all over the country.
He was ordained as an elder under Bishop Bells leadership, Elder Jackson started his first church, Miracle Church of God in Christ in West Knoxville. He eventually purchased a church building in Happy Homes presently known as Lighthouse Ministries. He left the Miracle Happy Homes Church of God in Christ and started a new ministry in North Knoxville as the New Beginnings Church. The church membership later joined Greater First Church of God in Christ under the pastoral leadership of Elder Donald Derrickson. Elder Jackson started his final church New Life Church of God in Christ motivated by his desire to do outreach ministry. He was later installed in the Georgia Metro Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop Michael Paden and the Greater Harvest District under Superintendent Marland Montgomery. He was devoted to his ministry and served faithfully and passionately until the Lord called him home.
Pastor Jackson was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joe Melvin Martin, Millard Jackson Jr., Walter “Gene” Jackson, and James “Buddy” Jackson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years Carolyn Davis Jackson; sons Torriano (Hope) Thomas, David Jackson II, Ryan Jackson, Damon (Tameka) Jackson; daughter Alysha (Dwight Jr,) Wilson; grandchildren Tiana, David III, Aeron, Tra’Vel, Torriano, Quisean, Quiara, Trinity, Jace, Lana, Zhianne, Zion, Taylor, D’Ajalon, Destini, S’Brayiah; great grandchildren Ayri’Ajah, Jeremiah, Demetrious, Kameron, Kehlani, Kadence, Asani; aunts Katherine Clark and Pat Martin; special daughter Tayla; special friends Abraham Dudley, Evangelist Ruth “Mamma” Derrickson, “Pastoral Prayer Line” members including Pastor Nathaniel Byrd, Superintendent M. Montgomery, Pastor Spencer; and a host of nieces, nephews & other relatives too numerous to list.
Friends may visit with the Jackson family on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 11:00am until time of Homegoing Service at 12:00pm at Peace and Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, 1723 Washington Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917. Masks are required, temperatures will be taken. Following the service, family and friends will go in procession to Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Hwy. Alcoa, TN 37701.
