David Michael Mcginnis

David McGinnis (Sr.) April 21, 1946- Oct. 15, 2019 McGinnis, David, age 73, of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019 with his wife and family by his side. David was a graduate of Rule High School, and holds a degree in Business and Law. He served in the U.S. Army as a lineman and paratrooper. He was a founding member and former pastor of New Life Baptist Church of Powell, Tn. David was a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association. David had a love for music and enjoyed songwriting, and playing his guitar. This love for music was expressed many times when he would get together with his family and friends just to play and sing. David's warm smile and compassionate heart made him unforgettable to those who met him. He loved to tell a good joke and usually laughed harder than anyone in the room. David had a way of seeing the bright side in almost any situation, which enabled him to encourage others while they faced difficult times. His great sense of adventure lead him to travel many roads, see some wonderful places, while often sharing them with others that he took along with him. Preceded in death by his parents William and Maggie McGinnis, daughter, Dana Tilson, sisters; Pauline, Helen, Ruby, Gracie, Dorothy, and Marie. Brothers; Lee and R.L McGinnis. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pat McGinnis, Daughters: Tammy, Rhonda, Kelli; Sons: Jackie and David Jr. and a very special niece, Diane Davis. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful care given by Tennova Healthcare hospice nurse, Angie Jarnagin. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM – 7:00PM on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Mynatt Funeral Home in Fountain City. Family and friends will meet at East Tenn. State Veteran's Cemetery on Gov. John Sevier Hwy at 1:45PM for a 2:00PM graveside service on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. David McGinnis Jr. and David Knight will be officiating. Pallbearers: Jackie, Roger, R.L.
