David Michael Matthews, age 64, of Powell, retired 1st Sargent in the U.S. Army, lost his battle on earth but won his reward in heaven on January 10, 2015. He was employed by Fox Toyota in Clinton. Preceded in death by parents, Frank & Irene Matthews and brother & sister-in-law, Jim & Barbara Matthews. Survived by: wife, Mary H. Matthews. Daughter & son-in-law, Christina & Gill Pratt of Washington D.C. Brothers & sisters-in-law: Wayne & Judy Matthews, Richard & Sue Matthews, John & Carolyn Matthews, Jack & Terry Matthews, Terry & Kim Matthews and Scott & Crystal Matthews. Nieces & nephews: special niece, Karen Matthews, Jim Matthews, Rita Sue Crowe, Allan Matthews, Jason Matthews, Justin Matthews, Ashley Smith, Ryan Matthews, Trevor Matthews, Zack Matthews, Haley Matthews, Frankie Matthews, Justin Powers, Courtney Matthews and Brook Matthews. 8 great nieces and 3 great nephews. Special friends: Ted & Judy Pennoyer and Royce Pratt. A special thank you to the 5th floor University of Tennessee Hospital critical care unit for their excellent care and concern. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday with funeral service at 8pm, Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Rev. Charles Ogle, Rev. Greg Goodman and Rev. Brandon Heardon officiating. Family & friends will meet at 9:15am Wednesday at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Hwy. for graveside service at 9:30am with full military honors.
