David Leland Reed, born December 14, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed peacefully into Eternity Monday, February 3, 2014 at UT Hospital. His life was a testimony to the glory of God. He was employed by Tennessee Highway Patrol for 15 years, Dynamic Security for 15 years, and currently with the Department of Homeland Security. He was the son of the late Thomas Leland Reed and Marcel (Pat) Ellis Reed of Scott County. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Karen Russell Reed of Knoxville; mother, Princess Carson Posey Reed of Oneida; son, Michael Martin Reed and fiancé, Paige Dunlap of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Lynne and Daniel Frank of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law David Craig and Jennifer Reed of Pine Knot, Kentucky; brother, Thomas C. Reed of Bremen, Alabama; uncle, Royce and wife Melva Reed of Kingston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909. Funeral service 7:00 pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Eddie Myers of Son Light Baptist Church officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am Saturday at Hazel Valley Cemetery, Oneida for 11:00 am interment. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
