David L. Young

Reverend David L. Young returned to his heavenly home on September 1, 2021, at the young age of 83, as he called it. David always said he could not wait to meet the Lord to be able to sit down and talk with Jesus. He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church and was inspirational in his devotion to God and had an immense willingness to witness to anyone as he never met a stranger. He was dearly loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed, but he is now rejoicing with a healthy body. He was an angel here on earth and always had a smile on his face. David was a pastor for 25 years with 20 of those years being on an Indian reservation in Arizona, New Mexico, and California. He also pastored in Texas, South Dakota, and Nebraska. He is preceded by his parents, Alvin and Lois young, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and his late first wife Ruth. He is survived by his present wife, Janie Young; daughters Diane (Lee) Runyon, and Valerie Adams. Judy (Wayne) Maples, sister and brother-in-law; step-daughter, Christy Craft; 4 grand-children; twin step-grandsons; 3 great grand-children; several nieces; nephews and a host of Facebook friends from all over the country. The family would like to express sincere gratitude for the blessings and caregiving provided by Wayne and Judy Maples. A special thank you to Christy Craft for her God sent expertise in helping with the arrangements and Christina Shockley with Mynatt Funeral Home in Fountain City for her patience, loving, and compassionate care during this very difficult time. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 4-6 pm with the funeral services to be held right after viewing at the Valley View Baptist Church, 3521 Old Valley View Drive, 37917. Services will be officiated by Jared Shumate. As he stated, it was an honor to have the services at the church. The family wants to express gratitude for providing a family meal before the services.
