David Harold Roop

David Harold Roop, age 79 of Knoxville, went to his Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of August 4, 2022. David was a charter member and deacon of the Church at Sterchi Hills, where he loved to serve. He was known for giving tomatoes to the elderly and cooking for Vacation Bible School. He served the Halls community as a butcher and meat manager for White Stores and Food City for forty years. He completed his career as a delivery driver for Roden Electric. He enjoyed many outdoor hobbies, including raising Angus beef cattle, beekeeping, gardening, hunting and fishing. He exhibited his homegrown vegetables, including large watermelons and pumpkins, at the Tennessee Valley Fair for 35 years. He was a faithful husband and a loving father. His life was characterized by his generosity and servanthood. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Lee and Ruth Amburn Roop; brothers, Rev. William A. Roop and Dewey Roop; sister, Betty Roop Hundley; sister-in-law, Faye Roop; his loving wife of 49 years, Martha Moore Roop; infant daughter, Karan Faye Roop; and his infant son, Timothy Paul Roop. He is survived by his daughters, Jeanie and Kristy Roop, his brother, Kenneth Roop, several nieces and nephews, and his two beloved chihuahuas, Precious and Honey Bee. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm-6:00 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. A funeral service will take place at 1:30pm on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, with a procession to follow to Edgewood Cemetery for a graveside service, Dr. Joel Dew to officiate.
