David Carroll Watkin

David Carroll Watkin- Born January 12, 1931 and passed away May 16, 2017. Dave was a member of Fountain City Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of UT Knoxville with a degree in mechanical engineering and worked at ORNL Oak Ridge for 37 years. Dave enjoyed singing with different choirs and chorus in Knoxville. He was a nature lover- watching birds and animals. He enjoyed hiking in the Great Smokey Mountains and sailing in the lakes around the area. The family would like to thank the caregivers and nurses at Maple Court Senior Living and Smokey Mountain Hospice. Preceded in death by parents, William Earl Watkin and Marie Morris. Survived by wife of 59 years, Dorothy Watkin; daughter, Sharon Smith (Dr. John Reed Smith) of Indianapolis; son, David D. Watkin; grandchildren, Laura Beth Mitchell and Cydney Claire Watkin; great granddaughter, Brittany Mitchell; brothers, Jim Watkin (Barbara) and Gene Watkin; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. The family will be having a private interment service.
