Danny Samuel Stewart

Danny Stewart Sr., of Powell, TN, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 10, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Powell. He loved being with his family and especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in all of their sports and activities. He was employed by First Baptist Church of Powell and loved working there. He particularly loved his coworkers and spending time with the students at First Baptist Academy, where they affectionately called him “Papaw”. Preceded in death by mother Billie Sherrill; brothers Larry and Jimmy Stewart. Survived by friend and mother of his children, Phyllis Stewart; children April (Robbie) Bottoms, Billie (Ron) Hannah, and Danny Stewart Jr.; grandchildren Conner, Alex, Spencer, and Cooper Bottoms, Mackenzie and Miley Stewart, Lauren and Addison Hannah; sisters Judy (David) Hickman, Gayle (Daryl) Cross, and Sherry (Ronnie) Hurst; many nieces and nephews; longtime family friends Roy and Nita Smith and family. Family will receive friends 4:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Powell with service to follow at 7:00pm, Rev. Phil Jones officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45pm the following week, Thursday, January 21, 2021, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway for a 2:00pm committal service with military honors provided by East Tennessee Volunteer Honor Guard.
