Maynardville

Dallas Cleve Hicks, Jr., age 85, of Maynardville, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He is survived by his life partner of 32 years, Debbie McDearman of Maynardville, TN; stepdaughter, Roxanne (Rodney) Patterson of Andersonville, TN; granddaughter, Ali (Joseph) Tipton of Andersonville, TN; granddaughter, Ashtyn (Reece) Edmondson of Fayetteville, NC; and a very special great-granddaughter, Rexlee Claire Tipton who always made him smile; brother, Clay (Nancy) Hicks of Danville, IL; son, Shane (Kim) Hicks of Navarre, FL; grandsons, Cody and Tanner Hicks of Navarre, FL; and great grandchildren, Leiah and Axle Hicks of Navarre, FL. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Threacy Hicks; sister and brother-in-law, Doris (John) Aleknas; and brother, Thurman Hicks. Dallas was born in Manchester, Kentucky, on Christmas Eve 1939. After his mother passed when he was 8 years old, Dallas grew up in a Baptist boys’ home in the hills of Kentucky where he learned to love Jesus and be a man of great character. When he was 18, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving four years in Kansas City, Alaska, and Cape Canaveral. He was proud of his service and military experiences. Dallas enjoyed traveling and frequently took solo trips around the country visiting every state except Hawaii. “That’s the way to do it”, he would say. “Nobody to slow you down”. Along his journeys, he may have been solo but he never left a town as a stranger. Dallas resided in Stuart, Florida, for 35 years where he owned a successful construction company. His claim to fame was being the contractor on homes for celebrities such as Burt Reynolds, Sylvester Stallone, and Gloria Estefan. After retirement, Dallas moved to Tennessee to watch his granddaughters grow up, hardly ever missing a softball game or cheer competition. The highlight of his life was being a grandpa and a great-grandpa. Dallas was a loyal, loving man, and you couldn’t be in his presence without him making you laugh with a witty remark. Dallas was never short is a story to make you laugh. He surely made a positive impact on this world and will be dearly missed and forever cherished by those who had the privilege to love him. The family wishes to express special thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Wellington Manor Memory Care for the loving care and compassion given to Dallas, as well as the family, during his final days. A private family graveside service with military honors will be held at a later time. An Online obituary may be viewed, and condolences made at www.mynattfh.com.
