Dale Russell Rutherford

Dale Russell Rutherford, age 77, of Knoxville, was born on Thursday, April 10, 1947, and passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at NHC Fort Sanders in Knoxville. Dale had a great sense of humor, with a bit of sarcasm on the side. He loved to watch his grandson Eli play ball and enjoyed playing golf with all of his Beaver Brook Buddies, as long as he was winning. He is a graduate of Maury High School in Dandridge and Carson-Newman College, where he excelled in baseball and football. For thirty years Dale and Teresa were owners of Dale’s Sports, where many friendships grew.  He is preceded in death by his father, A.C. Rutherford, mother, Jennie V. Carmichael Rutherford, and sister, Nancy Holt. Dale is survived by his wife of 56 years, Teresa Denton Rutherford; his son and daughter-in-law, Russ and Courtney Rutherford; special grandson, Eli Russell Rutherford; and three sisters, Margie Hensley of Knoxville, Kay Williams (Phil) of Dandridge and Connie Rutherford of Bristol. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 5-7 P.M. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 pm officiated by Rev. A.C. Cooper. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 8201 Hill Road, Knoxville. Every golf buddy is requested to wear his favorite golf hat. An online obituary may be viewed, and condolences made at www.mynattfh.com.
