Clyde B. Hubbs, 93 passed away November 7, 2021 at his home at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. Clyde died from complications from a stroke and pneumonia. Clyde was a resident of Morning Pointe, Powell. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Clyde was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, August 2, 1928. Clyde attended Stair Tech High School and was employed with Glenmore Clothing Company and self-employed in carpet cleaning and painting.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He served overseas in Germany during the Korean War.
Clyde loved to bowl, water ski, and spend time with his family.
Clyde was a deacon, usher, Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He also was active in the Lions Club where he held leadership positions and coached Little League and girls’ softball teams sponsored by Halls Lions Club. His primary hobby was loving his wife, Geneva (Judy) Hubbs for 66 years. They married in 1948.
Travis, his grandson, was the apple of his eye until his great granddaughter, Charlie Louise, stole the show when she was born on Judy’s birthday.
Clyde is survived by son Mike (Diane), grandchild, Travis Hubbs (Billie), and great granddaughter, Charlie Louise. Siblings, Wanda Massingale, Ruth Lusk, and Catherine Dodson. He also is survived by Bobbie Mynatt, sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his spouse Geneva (Judy) Hubbs, his parents Lester and Mattie Hubbs, and brothers in early childhood, Everett and W. L. His brothers-in-law, Billy J. Reed, Carol Mynatt, Pete Massingale, Bill Lusk, and Manfred Dodson, nephew, Ron Massingale, and sister-in-law by marriage, Franci Reed.
The family would like to thank UT Medical Center’s Comfort Care Unit, UT Hospice, and Morning Pointe Assisted Living for caring for dad during his time in hospice. Clyde cherished his six years at Morning Pointe in Powell.
Family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with funeral service to follow, Dr. Alan Price, Pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, officiating. The graveside service will be 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Sherwood Cemetery on Alcoa Highway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church General Fund.
